Two Teeth!!

Kason has had quite the week! After several days of being grumpy, Kason got his second tooth on Sunday.  We are hoping to get him back to his normal self soon! He finally got back into his regular sleeping schedule at night. It took a night of letting him cry for him to figure it out again! We are a much happier family with our sleep! Since he learned how to stand up in his crib, we had to lower the mattress this last week.  He is pretty cute when he sleeps at night. He usually falls asleep on his pillow on his belly with his legs underneath his and his butt up in the air.  It is pretty cute! He now can put his pacifier in his mouth all by himself and even turn it around, so it’s right side up. He likes moving in his walker and is pretty fast now. He now likes to open the drawers in the kitchen too!  He likes watching the cars out the window and waiting for Dad to get home.  Kason learned how to drink out of a straw this week! He stared at me drinking out of my mug at work, so I put it in his mouth and sucked right away. He thought he was pretty cool! He is getting a fun personality. It is fun to see him learn and grow!

On Monday I went into work a little later than normal.  Kolt didn’t have school, so Kason stayed with him. On my way, I got a reminder about the Baby Photo Shoot at the Post Register.  Kason, along with 5 other babies, are going to be on the front cover of the Baby Parade 2013 magazine.  It is pretty fun to think that I have looked at that magazine for many years, using it to pick out baby names, and now my own baby is going to be on the cover! I’m a proud mama! Kolt rushed Kason over to the Post Register, and we dressed him in the overalls that they requested.  He got to wear some overalls that Uncle Kevin and Uncle Tyler wore as babies! He was a little too big for them, but they worked for the picture! They had a cute background set up with hay bales and little John Deere tractors.  Kason didn’t smile in any of the group photos (probably due to a dirty diaper that we didn’t have time to change!), but he smiled and smiled in his individuals! The pictures looked great though, and I’m excited to get them in a few weeks! I made a new Teriyaki Chicken recipe in the crockpot and took some over to Natalie and her family. On Monday evening, Kolt and Kason came with me to volleyball. We beat both teams with five! I sure enjoy playing volleyball. It is a good release from the week!

On Tuesday morning, we visited one of our visiting teaching ladies.  She likes to see Kason each month. We had a new Barbecue Chicken recipe in the crockpot. I really like trying new recipes! Kolt took Kason out to Brand’s basketball game at Rigby and I went to my first club volleyball practice with the 10 year olds.  Brand’s team won by 3. Volleyball practice was great. The girls are excited and seemed to be really coachable this first week. I’m hoping that continues. It is nice to have Jeanna to help me coach. One of the girls that I coached last year named Paisley kept looking at my funny through the whole first half of the practice.  On a break, she came over to me and asked, “Did you have a baby?” I think she was trying to figure out why I had a big belly last season and didn’t bring any baby to show for it! It will be good to bring Kason next week, so Paisley isn’t so confused! 

On Wednesday, I worked on homework and ran into work just to pass out folders.  On our way home, we stopped by Kolt’s school and ate lunch with him. Kolt won a medal at the school’s Olympics during lunch.  Kason got to wear his medal for the day which he was quite fascinated by! We went to Brand’s basketball game at Rocky Mountain against Mountain View.  We hurried back just in time for our home teachers to come visit.  We are grateful for good home teachers who always visit us.  Kason has sure grown a lot since we got our new home teachers.

On Thursday, I went to work and printed checks.  It was a long day and Kason was a bit of a pill, but we made it through! I’m so grateful for good co-workers who don’t mind having Kason in the office. Kason started venturing away from my desk this week.  He crawled around and checked things out this week. He thought he was pretty special. J Kolt had his lab in Pocatello and my class got cancelled, so I stayed home with Kason. He was pretty grumpy, so I spent most of the night holding him.  Hopefully, since his tooth came in, he will be happier.

On Friday I went into work and left Kason with Kolt, since he didn’t have school.  Kason and I enjoyed watching the Olympics. We did some shopping in the evening.   We got Kason a couple of sippy cups and a new high chair. He didn’t think much of it to start, but he likes it more now.  It is nice to have a bigger tray, so he can feed himself more and spill on the floor less.  He really likes his new sippy cups and even had a sip of my Jamba Juice that we got on the way home.

On Saturday morning, we got up early to be at the temple at 6 AM for Institute Baptisms for the Dead.  It is always nice to be in the temple, and there were a good group of kids there.  After the temple, we had breakfast at Alyssa’s house.  It was yummy! We got home in time to meet Grandma, Grandpa and Kason at Evan’s last basketball game. He even scored a basket!! Kolt helped his dad work on his truck until his appointment to tutor one of the kids in his class.  After the session, he met another classmate at our house to study for another class.  I made some caramel popcorn for a little brain food.  While Kolt was working on the truck, Kason stayed with Grandpa Lindley while Grandma Lindley, Ashley and I went to Endless Love at the movie theater.  It was cute show about two high school sweethearts, so it was perfect for me.  Kason had a great nap with Grandpa while we were gone.  In the evening, Grandma Lindley watched Kason while I took a test in one of my online classes.  I’m so grateful for family close by to help us when we need it!

On Sunday morning, we got up and did our usual routine.  I played the organ, Kolt taught the Sunday school lesson, and I substituted in the sunbeams class.  Kason took a nice nap during Sacrament Meeting, came with me during singing time in Primary, and then went to Priesthood during the Primary class.  It was a successful Sunday at church.  I made dinner for the family on Sunday afternoon.  It was a yummy chicken salad bar with more toppings than anyone could dream of!  In the evening, Kolt went home teaching and Makayla came to visit! We had a great evening talking and catching up on lots of things! We definitely live too far away! I’m so glad her parents moved back to Iona, so I can still run into her every time she’s home!

Weekend at Welton Woods!!

Happy Birthday to Grandma Lindley today! We have had a fun week! First, here’s a few of Kason’s updates! Kason has learned to cluck with his tongue and has being doing it all week! He is very talkative at home, but is growing a shy personality in big groups! He has gotten the flu bug this week and threw up on Saturday evening. The biggest news of the week is that Kason popped his bottom  tooth on Monday! He has been unusually whiny, chewing on everything, and sleeping very poorly in the last few days! The second biggest news of the week is that Kason is pulling himself up to stand this week. This week he was standing up in the crib when he woke up from his nap! He pulls himself up onto furniture. Nothing is safe in the house anymore! He is getting lots more dark hair which is so cute! He loves to be in the action still.  He is growing to like more foods, but still takes longer than usual to warm up to new foods, especially the sweet stuff!

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday we spent catching up on work and homework before our trip to the cabin with the Jensen’s.  I had volleyball on Monday evening in Rexburg. We watched Brand play Eagle Rock. He was sick, so he didn’t play, but the team won a close game! I got the sick bug on Wednesday, so it was a miracle we got ready to go! Kolt had a big exam on Thursday before we left, so Kolt spent the evening before Wednesday evening and Grandpa and Grandma Lindley helped watch Kason while I tried to feel better!

On Thursday, Kolt left for school, and Kason and I got ready to go.  Kolt left a sweet Valentine’s Day note with chocolates and flowers! It was a great surprise! Shauna, Landon, Paisley & Rope picked up Kason and me at the house and loaded up our bags in Landon’s brother’s suburban.  We drove over to the school to pick up Kolt after his test.  Shauna and I put together a yummy lunch! I was glad I finally felt good enough to eat it! Rope rode in the back with Paisley and Kason.  Kason was a bit of a pill for the first little bit, but eventually had a nap.  We drove straight to Kolt’s cousin, Chris Jensen’s house.  We had pizza for dinner and then drove up to the Welton Woods cabin near Mt. Pleasant.  We drove the suburban as far as we could and then got in the snow cat and on snowmobiling to drive into the cabin. The cabin was beautiful! It had 9 bedrooms and lots of rooms for the kids.  The whole Jensen family was there, so I was glad to meet some of Kolt’s family that I hadn’t met yet!

On Friday, we got up and had a yummy breakfast! Kason didn’t sleep very well in the night and did a great job of keeping us up! We left around 10 in the snow cat into the mountains to find a good snow spot for tubing and snowmobiling. Kolt and I rode down the hill in the tube and then went riding on one of the snowmobiles.  Kason slept through his first snowmobile ride! We built a fire up there and stayed plenty warm while we had snacks and drinks.  It was a great day! When we got back to the cabin, we had lunch, took naps, visited, and watched Clinton Anderson and the Olympics.  We took a bunch of pictures for Valentine’s Day.  Aunt Shauna even got Kason a Valentine’s Day shirt! She is always so great to think of us!  Kason also got a Valentine from cousin Kylen & Kamrie that we got when we got home! It was a great first Valentine’s Day! Friday marked 2 years since Grandpa Earl Lindley passed away.  I spent a lot of the day thinking about him and the many memories I have of him.  On Saturday morning, we loaded up for home! We shopped at Hobby Lobby on the way and then ate at Winger’s before we headed home.  Kason was a pill on the way home, so I sat in the back and helped him sleep. He was so happy when we got home! We had a fun mini vacation and are very grateful for Chris & Nicole for inviting us and for Landon & Shauna for driving!

On Sunday morning, Kolt got the sick bug, so he couldn’t go to church.  He thought he could still go, but I told him no one wanted him there! I got there early with Kason to play the organ.  Grandpa Lindley took Kason until Grandma Lindley & Great Grandma Lindley got there.  I’m so grateful for all their help during church and in the afternoon. I had to take a test online when I got home, so Grandma Lindley took Kason. We had a great dinner with the Lindley’s and were glad to have Great Grandma Lindley with us. It is good to have her visit. We also got our pictures printed and put them up on the wall on Sunday evening. I’m loving it!

We Love Basketball!

Well we have had a great week at the Piquet home.  I have to start by correcting our family letter last Monday. Kason actually turned 7 months old on Monday when I wrote it! I was a day off! We did our monthly pictures. It is so fun to see how much he has grown in such a short period of time.  Kason is getting to be a very good crawler.  On Saturday afternoon, I took a nap on the couch and Kolt did homework for 1 ½ hours while Kason crawled and played all over our family room.  He even pulled himself up to standing with his hands on the first stair! He is getting so brave and strong! He has ventured to find the stairs, the bathroom, the kitchen tile, and other fun things in the room.  He is making sure his mom baby-proofs the house! Kason is growing a fun personality too.  He is a typical active boy. He loves being moving and watching what’s going on around the house.  He learned a new trick of puckering his lips and snorting his nose when he really wants something.   It is pretty cute. Kolt and I got a glimpse this week of the Kason we had before he got sick this winter. He is being much happier and social except for today.  This afternoon he has been throwing up everything we have fed him. He has been sleeping a lot, so hopefully he will sleep it off.  He loves Grandpa Lindley’s new Yonanas treat that is frozen ice cream made with only frozen bananas and blueberries.  He is the happiest boy in the world!

This week has been full of lots of homework and work preparing for our trip to Kolt’s cousin’s Chris Jensen’s cabin this next weekend.  Kolt and I have both been working hard to coordinate homework time to make sure we do what we need to for class.  I printed checks this week at work.  It was a very smooth check run with lots more checks than usual.  On Wednesday, I got to go pick up Evan from school and bring him back to work with me.  My desk was quite an attraction with both Evan and Kason helping me work. Thankfully, Kolt got out of school shortly after and picked up both boys, so I could get finish up.

Monday I played in my volleyball league.  I was happy that Kolt and Kason both came and did the score.  Kason was a big help from what I hear, and I even heard him cheering for his mom! Tuesday was a cleaning and homework day. It is nice to have a catch up day once in a while.  Wednesday we watched Brand play at Sandcreek.  They lost in a close game. It was sure exciting! We also watched Brand play on Friday against Madison. They won by 30.  Brand played great! Kolt and I really enjoy going to watch his games.  After Brand’s game on Friday, we watched the Bonneville boys team play Century.  Kason played with Kristie Lemons at the game and then fell asleep sitting on my lap. He is a really good baby at the games.  He likes watching the games and is pretty happy for the most part, except when he thinks he wants to go play!

On Thursday, Kolt had his lab in Pocatello and I had a school meeting in Idaho Falls.  We are grateful for Grandma Piquet who watched Kason from 5 to 10 that evening. When I went to pick him up, he was happy as can be playing and playing and in one of the funniest moods I’ve ever seen, just giggling and giggling.  He sure likes his grandparents.

On Friday morning, we had our life insurance physicals.  It was pretty quick and painless, since I’m a baby about needles! Kolt and I spent the day working on homework until the basketball games in the evening. 

On Saturday morning, we went to Rope’s basketball game in the Belnap league. They won by a buzzer beater shot! It was really exciting! We have had some great games this week! For Brand’s birthday, we decided to take him to dinner and an ISU Men’s Basketball game.  So at 4, we took off for our 5^th game of the week! We had dinner at Golden Corral. It was so good! Kason was the main attraction! Lots of grandmas came to see him. He just smiled and smiled at them which made their day! After dinner, we went to the game. It was a great game, although they lost, it was close for most of the game.  The highlight of the game was when Idaho Central Credit Union threw out shirts. Brand ran down and got one of the 2 shirts that they threw out! The winners got to go in the money machine! They didn’t let Brand go, since he wasn’t 18, so Kolt went for him. The first lady got $27. Kolt won $121!!! His wife was pretty excited! Brand and he split the profits, so it was a great night! I also got to visit with Kylee and Riley Sessions.  I have sure missed her! I have been remembering all our fun memories today.

On Sunday, Kolt taught the Sunday school lesson with a question and answer period to teach us about the importance of learning.  I was thankful Kason slept all during Relief Society, so I could listen to Sister Sayre teach the lesson. In Sacrament Meeting, Josh and Mackenzie Sayre sang “If the Savior Stood Beside Me”.  They did a great job. I have set a goal to sing in church with my kids someday.  We had a yummy dinner with the Lindley’s after church. We have also enjoyed watching the Olympics. It is one of the favorite times of the year!

7 MONTHS

-Over 21 pounds 3 ounces and 29 1/4 inches long

-Mostly 12 month clothes and a few18 month clothes already

-CRAWLING!!! Still slow for the most part, but can turn it on when he's following mom or grabbing the remote!

-Jabbers at home all the time

-Still a good passenger in the car

-Rocks on your lap as if he wants to go somewhere

-Favorite things: Remotes, cords, newspapers/envelopes, hair, and shoelaces

-Finally sleeping through the night in his big boy crib for the whole night! His mom and dad are SOO happy!

-Loves basketball games, but doesn't care for lots of yelling

-Wary of new situations! Definitely a home boy!

-Found his tongue! Mimics sticking out his tongue and often sits with it hanging out of his mouth!

-Sits up like a pro! Loves to look around!

-Smacks his lips all the time! 

-Loves to be outside if only it wasn't winter time!

-Still smiles with his tongue out!
Often asked if he's a year old, since he's so big!

-Likes to hold your arm or play with your hair when he falls asleep!

-Eats all the time! Lots of fruits and vegetables and meats now. Favorite snacks are Cheerios and graham crackers!

-Says "Mama" lots and said "Dada" once!

-Obsessed with hands...loves to touch hands, hold other people's fingers and watching people clap

-No teeth yet, but still gnaws on everything! Any day now!

-New foods lead to new poop!

-Really good at moving from sitting up to crawling and vice versa

-Really recognizing who he knows....might be a bit of a Mama's boy

Kason's Crawling!!

Kason will be 7 months tomorrow, and he officially started crawling this week! He is still pretty slow, but can really move when he wants to follow his mom or grab a remote.  He is enjoying playing by himself more now that he can move around.  He has crawled all around the living room to find me working on homework, and he also found the stairs today! He is pretty funny about getting tired or getting an “owie”.  He will put his face straight down in the carpet and cry.  It is pretty cute.  He still does the funny little head turn when he wants to go to someone or sees something he wants.  He loves his walker—he found the drawers this week and figured out how to get one open! He is started to be more vocal about being with mom or dad.  He still says “Mama” quite a bit when he needs something.  He loves looking at any book.  He is quite an active boy, always rocking on your lap like he wants to go somewhere! He also likes to watch the basketball games, but is not a fan of the intense moments.  He prefers things being quiet! He definitely opens up more when he is home or in a quiet room.  He is pretty talkative then, but quiets up in loud places! He is also eating lots more.  He loves lots of foods and eats quite a bit, although he is skeptical about trying new foods.  His new favorite food this week is graham crackers!  He has had a tough week of sleeping in the crib, but we are hoping to be on the upside in the next few days!  He absolutely loves playing with cousins. It is the highlight of the week when he can play with his cousins (especially watching the older ones run around him)!!

Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday I went into work.  Kason is a good partner as he spends lots of time watching my coworker in the desk next to us.  My boss also gave him a slice of an apple to chew on which is also loves! It can entertain him for a long time! He also found the cords under my desk this week. That is a recipe for a disaster!

Monday night I had volleyball.  Kolt and Kason stayed home to get some homework done.  We played 2 good teams and beat them both.  I am loving playing volleyball more each week and find myself really looking forward to it.

On Tuesday, we watched Brand play Rigby at Rocky Mountain.  Paisley was sure excited to see him, so much that she gave him lots of hugs and kisses.  Kason had just woken up, so he was a little slow in returning the love.  We took Evan out to his basketball practice after the game and then took Charlie with us to watch Scott Dalling play at Bonneville.  I also went into volleyball practice for a few minutes while we were there.

On Wednesday, we had our last meeting to finalize our life insurance.  We have been meeting with a great agent that is from Iona. We are excited to finally have our policy up and running.  Thursday evening, Kolt worked on a service project at the school for a school club and then went to play basketball with the Elder's Quorum.  

After work on Thursday, we met Shauna, Paisley & Landon at the Wood Creations store to pick up a Valentine's craft.  We also went out to watch Jay play at Ririe.  After the game, we ate at Stoplight Pizza.  Kolt attempted the Farmer's Challenge which is a 9 lb pizza! He didn't make it as far as he'd hoped, but they gave him a shirt for trying! We also had home teachers that evening right before my class meeting at the school in Idaho Falls. It was a busy night!

On Friday, I went down to Pocatello to earn some research points for one of my class.  I was able to earn enough for the whole semester which I was happy about.  Afterwards, the 3 of us met Jocelyn, Mark & Paxton for lunch in Rexburg.  It was great to visit and finally hold Paxton! I sure miss Jocelyn and never see her enough! After lunch, we drove to Blackfoot for Brand's game.  He played great. We were happy to be home that night after a lot of driving for one day!

On Saturday, we attended a temple session in the Rexburg Temple.  We are grateful for Grandma Piquet for babysitting! Kason was a great helper while she cleaned the church! He fell asleep in the front back while she worked! In the evening, we watched Rope play.  They barely lost in OT! It was exciting! After the game, we did some shopping in town and ordered a few of our new family pictures! I included a few of them for you to see!

We had a nice block of meetings on Sunday.  Kolt taught a nice lesson in Sunday School about the Plan of Salvation.  We learned about Hope in Relief Society, but missed the last half of it in the hall with Kason.  I am already looking forward to nursery.  In the evening, we enjoyed the Super Bowl with family.  We spent the first half with the Lindley's and the 2nd half with Piquet's.  Shauna and I worked on our craft during the game.  It was a great time. I really enjoy visiting with Shauna while we craft! Kolt was sad to see the Broncos lose to the Seahawks in the Super Bowl.
