Temple Sealings--Rodeo-Campfire

This week was my last official week filling in for my co-worker who was out of town. I’m so grateful to be done with that. In addition, this week my mom is going to start transitioning to taking all of the office hours, so I can strictly do checks from home. I’m not planning on working much in the office other than occasional picking up checks or filling in for my mom when she is gone for a few days. I’m really looking forward to this summer.

Somehow this week, Kolay learned to roll over from back to belly both directions. She has done it several times so far, but I can’t seem to get a video of it. She seems to know when I am recording and won’t do it. She is such a pleasant girl and rarely fusses unless she is hungry or someone raises their voice. She started getting back into a 10-3 sleeping habit. We started supplementing her with rice cereal in the evenings. She tolerates it, but doesn’t love it quite yet. We aren’t giving her very much yet. She loves to watch her brother and be outside as well.

Kason is busy as ever! He always has things to do outside or with his tractors and trucks and trailers. His cutest word right now is “yes!” He says it with such honesty and enthusiasm especially when you guess right on what he has been saying. He tells lots of stories if you can piece together the words. This morning he told me “Wally!” (Kolt’s new horse), “hay”, “no, no!”, “Wally!”, “grass”. Yesterday, Kolt had told him  not to feed the horse hay because he is eating the grass. He is really starting to figure things out. He also tells us quite often, “4-wheeler, Key, All gone, Be Back” and then he goes to find the key in the house. He is pretty cute and fun to talk with. Up until this week, Kason always picked sleeping in the crib when we asked him if he wanted to sleep in his crib or his bed. This week he started wanting to sleep in his bed and he’s been doing pretty well. He lays in his bed all by himself while Kolt or I sit in the chair across the room for a few minutes. In the morning, he gets up by himself and comes into our room. He started waking up in the middle of the night a couple day ago, so Kolt sometimes spends early mornings with him in bed. 

Monday evening we went swimming with my parents and Natalie’s family. We have started training for a sprint triathlon. We each took turns with the kids and swimming our 20 lengths to make for 500 meters total. I was excited to be able to do it in 15 minutes. Both Kolt and I were surprised at how difficult swimming in. Kolt has spent much of this week learning the correct technique and trying to improve his times. The kids enjoyed swimming and Kason loved the kids slide! He did great! 

Tuesday evening we went to Rope’s guitar recital. He did a great job. Kason liked the music and finding Rope in the mix of kids. We also voted for the Bond election on Tuesday. We were both disappointed to see that it failed. It will be an interesting few years ahead for Bonneville School District.

Wednesday evening we went swimming again. We went to the pool as my dad was coming out, so the kids didn’t have to go this time. We basically swam our laps for 15 minutes and then drive straight home. 

Thursday morning Kolt had a physical and blood work done for school in the fall. In the evening we went swimming again. This time we took Brand and Rope with us. The boys went off the diving boards and Kason went on the slide. Kolay slept in her chair. We took turns swimming laps. On the way home, we got some ice cream. Kason wanted to eat a cone like the boys and not in the cup like we got him.

Friday morning we went to a sealing of my friend Jacqueline Lee and her husband Caleb. It was a beautiful sealing and we were grateful for Natalie for watching our kids while we went. I was able to coordinate at work, so that we could go and I could come straight into work. In the evening we drove up to her reception. We enjoyed talking to Mason King and catching up. Afterwards, we went to Brand’s rodeo and were able to walk in right before he roped. 

Saturday morning Natalie and I did some pallet flag crafts. We were able to get several painted and have a few finishing touches to do. Kolt watched the kids. After the crafts, we went up to the rodeo to watch Rope’s bareback event. I then left for a sealing of my visiting teaching sister who was getting sealed to her husband and daughters. Her husband has been inactive for several years. It was sweet to see the tender sealing of this elderly couple. I then went back to the rodeo to catch Rope’s saddle bronc and chute dogging events. He got a time on the chute dogging! We are excited for state! We left the rodeo before the team roping, so Kason could get his nap. He fell asleep in the car, so we actually drove straight to the pool and took turns swimming our laps and sitting in the car with the kids. We are both improving our times. In the evening, we made a fire in the backyard and roasted marshmallows. Kason loved it. He kept running around the fire, saying “Hot! Hot!” It was a great evening as a family.

Kolt's Graduation!

Wow! Time has been flying by! Two weeks ago I spent a week training to fill in for a girl that is going out of town in the office. I've been training since December but it was my little practice run. This week was my first week filling in and I have one more week. Thankfully Kolt hasn't had to work, so he is home with the kids. He also has a few sore horses so he hasn't been able to work with them either. I'm working 9-5 every weekday. It had been hard for me to work so much but thanks to Kolt for being so supportive, we are getting through!!

Here's the latest with the kids:

Kolay is 5 months old! She is a little over 16 pounds and on the tail end of 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diapers. She is getting so much personality. She is not my little newborn anymore. She wants to be with us and sitting or standing up watching, smiling, and squealing. She is quite attracted to the tv right now too! She loves to kick and play on the floor, in her bouncer, and in her jumpers. She loves to eat and is ready for solids. She started reaching for bowls, spoons, and food.  She pulls everything to her mouth, toys and hands and faces. She gnaws and gnaws on my fingers and her binky. She is working on getting some teeth! She loves her brother and is quite patient with his rough love. She is a mommy's girl but will always smile at her daddy. She rolls from belly to back and is close to rolling over the other way. She also found her toes and loves to pull her socks off now!

Kason is a talking kid right now!!! Everyday he says a new word on his own and we have more and more conversations. It is so fun for us to see his learn! Here are some of the things he does: He copies his dad with his play phone--walking in a circle saying "ya, ya, no, no goodbye!" He also likes to make Siri say hi on the iPhone and will say "call Susan". He is always aware of Kolay and asks where she is. He had started with some 2-3 word phrases. He says things like "cow fall off", "I did it", "oh man" (when he missed a shot), "be back", "I found it", "shoot it", "Kolay dance", "not working" or "flowers pretty". He knows where houses are now and when we are close to them, including Nathan's, grandma and grandpa piquet's, his friend Quentin packs house on the corner, and Eli's house (Lin Lee longhursts big black dog). He repeats their names as soon as he figures it out! Just today he picked up on a new manner: he said "toot! 'Cuse me!" It was too cute!! He loves temples right now and points out any pictured in the house as well as anything outside that look pointy on top, windmills and churches. We sing I love to see the temples free our scripture study and we caught him singing it in the car the other day "temple going day". He picks up on everything. Yesterday I picked up Kolay when she was crying under her jungle mat and next thing I knew Kason laid under the mat and faked cried until I picked him up. His favorite toys are trucks and trailer and thinks every car needs a trailer attached to it. His favorite food right now is yogurt and "ranch" (his new word). He always asks to watch "nemo" but watches a few others now too. He jumps really well on the tramp and can stay on his feet with his older cousins pretty well. His favorite horse is Clyde and his favorite body part are his cheeks (or at least those are the words his likes to say). His all time favorite word to say is "no" although it often means yes! We are trying to teach him to say yes and he's getting better at it and it is usually accompanied by a newly learning head nod! He is turning into quite the character and makes us laugh every day with his new connections!

Here's the highlights of our week:

Last Monday Kolt watched paisley for a few hours in the morning. In the evening, we were going to swim in the hot tub but decided to go on a bike ride instead. We buckled up the kids and tried to position Kolay with blankets so she could lay back and sleep. The ride went so great that we rode all the way to the Iona stake center on the highway. Up until the point, Kason had been great with Kolay. He had put her binky in and left her alone when I told him too as I rode alongside the trailer. Right about at the stake center, Kolay got really fussy. The ride ended pretty painfully. I parked my bike and started walking with Kolay in my arms while Kolt hurried home with Kason and brought back the truck to pick up Kolay and I and then back to my bike. We learned to take a bike ride and involves many trips past the house in case we need to stop!

Last Tuesday night was Kolt's last final in organic evolution. There was a little miscommunication with the professor and the testing center, but they were able to take it and he did well, finalizing a 4.0 in his last semester. Wahoo!!

 Early Wednesday morning I had a dentist appointment. I once again got reminded about flossing, but didn't have any cavities. In the evening, we went to dinner at sizzler with the lindleys to celebrate Kolt's graduation. Kolay and Kason both sat in high chairs and Kason ate really well! Thanks for dinner Mom and Dad!

Early Thursday morning Kolt had his dentist appointment. The prior evening Kolt and I sat in the hot

tub and quickly found out Kolt had gotten in with his phone. The phone sat in rice over night and then he took it to an irepair shop in walmart on Thursday and they fixed it! The young boy who fixed it is this wife's hero! The screen had some water damage but has since dried out and isn't noticeable. In the evening Kason had grandmas day. He and grandma went on a long 4-wheeler ride which is kasons favorite thing to do!!! I kept Kolay to feed her that evening since I had been working all day.

Friday morning Kolt took Clyde to the vet. He and his dad put shoes on him a week or two ago that made him sore and he hasn't really fully recovered. Our trailblazer was used for the first time as a pickup truck as my mom had the truck and trailer on a horse ride. We are sure thankful to have that vehicle as it fills several purposes for our family. Kolt found out that Clyde had an abscess that had been exposed when he was trimmed. They blocked the nerve in his leg and drained it. He is doing much better now but Kolt

is giving him some extra time while I work so that he will be ready to go 100% in a couple weeks. Friday evening we went over to Brady and Natalie's house. Brady and Kolt worked on the trailblazers DVD player and Natalie and I had a good visit while the kids played. I'm sure grateful for my great sister and the example she sets for me. I learn a lot about being a mom from her.

Saturday was graduation day!! We got down to Holt arena a little late but just in time for Kolt. I took about 500 pictures, all of which I have yet to edit. The commencement was really nice. My dad and mom came to support Kolt and help me with the kids. My dad took Kason on a walk until it was Kolt's turn. Kolt graduated with high honors and has worked really hard to get accepted to PA school and do well in his classes. I am so proud of him! It was a long ceremony but we were sure glad Kolt could walk this year as he will probably not walk after he finishes PA school.  After dinner my parents took Kason home so Kolt and I could go on a date. We went to Red Lobster for our first time. We both went all out, trying some seafood we had never had before and it was delicious!    After dinner we went to The Transformers: Age of Ultron. It was actually alright for a guy movie and the 3-D was really cool! I think Kolt liked it too as he finally got to go to a movie that wasn't one that I picked! Kolay did good in the movie and slept most of the afternoon. On our date, Kolt got his graduation surprise from me. Okay, not really a surprise, just a present! We are going to go back to his mission in July! We have been talking about it for months and after lots and lots of planning, we finally felt good about it. We are both getting so excited as he has dart a schedule for our 6 day trip and showed me some of the places we are going to stay. It's going to be a fun summer!

Sunday was a great Mother's Day! Kolt got me a pair of flip flops and a new comb. We made handprint hot pads for the kids' grandmas and put them in a bucket full of summertime things. It was a combination of Pinterest ideas that turned out great I thought! They loved them! In the morning, we had a Skype call with Tyler. It was a little later than it was supposed to be and we couldn't see him but he could see us. Kason was great about it! He said "hi Ty Ty!" a couple of times even though he couldn't see him. We had a great block of meetings. Kristi and Bryant brought Kamrie and Kylen to play with Kason in nursery. I subbed for my mom so we got to play lots. Kolt taught the 17-year old Sunday school class and then came and traded me for the end of relief society.  After church, we went out to visit grandma piquet and take her her gift.

This Monday we had a year end club volleyball coaches dinner. We are at pizza pie cafe. Kason loved the pasta and was excited to see Tate!

Tuesday evening we end to church ball with Kolt and Rope since the kids had had late naps. Kason was dying to shoot during he game, but started to figure out that he could only shoot in between games.

Wednesday evening was the working ranch meeting at the arena. Kolt helped teach in one of the stations then he showed the kids how to make it easier for your horse to be caught. He showed them some cool things in the round pen and had the horse Jack doing some impressive things. It sounded like the kids learned a few things! The kids and I stayed out with grandma Landon paisley and Hesston until it was too cold and then we went inside and played. We did a little planning for the wagon train in June and then helped Grandpa Piquet drive a truck home.

Thursday evening was a pretty mellow evening. I had a tough day at work, enough that the people who made it tough brought me a big bag of Swedish fish on Friday morning. We walked to the park with the kids and played for a while.

Friday was a slower day at work, finally. I was pretty excited to have made it a week! Kolt took the kids grocery shopping all by himself and lived to tell about it! A couple of days this week he brought Kolay over for me to run out to the car and feed and I was thankful he came Friday. In the evening we had dinner at the Tandoori Oven, an Indian restaurant in town. It was really good and Kason even enjoyed some of it!

Saturday we had a relaxing family day! We cleaned the church in the morning with the kids and then went I cabelas and on a few other errands. Kason loved the animals in cabelas. In the evening, Kolt worked 7-11. My mom and I watched The Best of Me while my dad took Kason to town and on a walk. Thanks grandpa! The kids were good and laid down almost by themselves. They are getting on a pretty good schedule. Kason is asleep around 9 and Kolay is asleep by 10. Kolay sleeps until 5ish and Kason sleeps until 7ish. That's a typical day anyways. Of course, there are several atypical days too!

Today we had a good Sunday! Kason was great during sacrament meeting and Kolt taught the gospel doctrine class that went well. The kids are at a really good stage for church now, Kolay sleeps a lot and Kason is learning to whisper and understands when I get up to play the organ. In the evening, we went out to Grandpa & Grandma Piquet’s house. Everyone surprised Kolt with a graduation cake and a stethoscope for PA school! It even has his name engraved on it. He loves it! Thank you!

ISU IF Graduation Ceremony--Last Volleyball Tournament

Kason turned 22 months old today! He is an active kid, always talking and always on the go. This week he started a little eye infection that spread to both eyes, but it is all cleared up now. One of his new words is cough (right after he actually coughs as if to explain that he coughed). He also loves to say "open" now to everything that he wants especially doors and he loves to say "be back" to me when he is going to go get something like a toy or a snack. There is a commercial on sprout right now that has toddlers dancing to a song and he loves to copy all of the kids especially at the end when the last boy folds his arms. Kason does that one every time and then will look at us to make sure we saw it. It's pretty cute. His foods of the week are Oreos, muffins, and shredded cheese. He loves to give Kolay kisses on the head and does it whenever she's crying. He also will give the sweetest random "love(s)" are he calls it. Kason has a Kolay radar, and if she's not in sight, he will ask where she is without fail. He is a good big brother and is learning to be soft around Kolay still.

Kolay turned 20 weeks on Saturday! It's hard to believe that was over 4 months ago as her birth is still so fresh to me. She is still pretty bald with dark hair on the back of her head. Her finger nails grow like crazy! She is always scratching her face. She is starting to grab the toy on her car seat and other toys in from of her. She loves to hold my finger when she settles down. She is getting better at sleeping at night, and last night she slept 7 hours again. Wahoo! She loves to eat a lot in the evening to help her sleep longer. Kolay likes being outside almost as much as her brother. She is pretty content to sit in the stroller and watch her dad work with a horse. Kolay had her first food this week. Her brother Kason fed her a part of her Oreo. She really liked it until she spit up. I shouldn’t say her first food.  A couple weeks ago, she actually sucked on a cinnamon bear from Grandpa Piquet and really liked that actually!

Monday morning Kolt had his last day of shadowing Scott. He has enjoyed learning from him in a different environment than family first. Kason played with Brooke for a while and then went with aunt Natalie to pick up Nathan. Kolt picked him up on the way home. He loves playing with Brooke and Nathan. In the afternoon I worked a few hours. In the evening Kolay, my mom, and I attended the play Mary Poppins in Pocatello at the Mystique Theatre. One of our coworkers was in the play so we decided to watch. I didn't think Kason would do very well at the play so he went with Kolt to put shoes on Clyde. Kason had a great time playing outside with paisley. At one point, he went up to Shauna's door and knocked on it saying "Shauna! Open door! Please!" It was pretty cute and she was great to let him come it and feed him. The play was fantastic, and I sat there the whole time wishing I had brought Kason. There was so much action that Kason would've been so intrigued.

Tuesday morning Kolt worked with Bonnie then we went to get tires on the trailblazer. We put the kids in the stroller while we waited and walked to Broulims to do some grocery  shopping. Kolt and I suckered for some sushi that was delicious! The kids fell asleep on the way home and had a good nap. In the evening, Kolt had his ISU IF Graduation ceremony. Shane, angela, Brand, Rope, Landon, Shauna, paisley and Hesston came to the program. They had refreshments and then had a nice program with a few student and faculty speakers, then they let the graduates come up and say what they were graduation with and their plans. It was a nice ceremony. We took a lot of pictures afterwards. It was a beautiful day, and we are grateful for all the great family support Kolt has as he continues his education.

On Wednesday morning, I went into work to do a practice on the layout job. I did the farm and ranch layout until Beth's funeral was over and boy was I happy to see her! Kolay wasn't the easiest to work with so I was grateful my mom was willing to help some in the office too. When I got home, Kolt rested for his on call night shift. He got called in early for 7-11 and then found out at 10:50 he was staying for the night. He was a little disappointed, but survived. The kids know when Kolt is on nights and take turns being up in the night so I am constantly running from room to room. Neither of us really like night shifts but his work has been short staffed lately and is always calling to see if Kolt can pick up shifts.

Thursday morning Kolt came home after work and then went to his last institute class. He has been a diligent Institute student during his undergrad. He then came home and slept on and off when kids were sleeping. We got grandma piquet's final birthday things ready. We made her a birthday video with the kids that turned out pretty cute. I had my last volleyball practice at 6. We played lots of games and they had fun with that. We had a great scrimmage again with the 10s and 14s at the end. After practice, Kolt met me with the kids to go to grandma piquet's birthday cake and ice cream. Shauna and Landon and Kolt and I got her a new towel set for her birthday. She liked that! Kason even drew a picture on her card and then pointed at it and said "cow". I think he drew her a cow! At one point, Kason was going up the stairs and Landon went to get him and bring him back down, and Kason was kicking and screaming. I took him in a little timeout in the spare bedroom and had him sit on the bed and I stood in the room with him. After timeout, I told him he needed to tell Landon sorry and give him a love and he excitedly ran out and did just that. It was sure cute! After cake and ice cream, the boys went out to play football and the girls and babies stayed inside. It was a fun evening!

On Friday, Kolt took Kason and worked on fence while I had Kolay at work closing the month with my mom. We got in around 7 and worked until 1. We decided to do it that way so it was only a half day and we are sending out statements on Monday. I did the layout again before I came home. In the afternoon, Kolt slept for his on call night shift, and Kason and saydie went swimming in the hot tub while Kolay and I watched. Kason loved the swimming and I think we may be doing that a lot this summer. In the afternoon, I met Trish to pick up Lindsey for the evening so she could play volleyball with me the next morning. We had a fun night, watching Brooke, Nathan, and Lindsey swim, riding the 4-wheeler, fixing fence, making sticky popcorn, and playing with Brooke and Nathan. Kolt ended up not being called in which was so great!

On Saturday morning, Lindsey, Kolay and I went to volleyball. Kason had been up from 5-7 that morning and fell asleep at 7 until 9:30. Kolt stayed with him until grandma Lindley got home and then went to help at Stucki's branding day. Volleyball went well; we had a great day. Some of the girls couldn't be there, so had some fill ins come help us. They were excited to get a few 3-hit plays. After volleyball I met Kolt at the rodeo with Lindsey and the kids. We watched rope do breakaway, saddle bronc, and chute dogging with Great Grandpa Piquet. Rope didn't have too great of a day, but we had fun watching. We went home to let the kids nap, and let Kolt work with Clyde, then hurried back for Brand and Ropes team roping events. Both teams missed but we got some cool pictures! After the rodeo, we went to rexburg and got Gelatis at Karrie Ann's. They are amazing! Its the same place Shauna took me before Kolt surprised me with a proposal at Mesa falls. We decided to get larges, and all had a stomach ache afterwards. Oops! We drove to grandma Dallings house to wish her happy birthday and meet Trish to drop off Lindsey. It's great to visit my grandma and sad to see her get older. After the visit, we drove to Shauna and Landon's new house and took a walk through. It is almost finished!

Today we had a good morning together indexing and watching frozen. Grandma went to take a shower and Kason went running down the hall, started banging on the door and telling "grandma! Bath! Toys!" until she got out, and filled a bath for him. It was pretty cute! We had a good block of meetings. During sacrament meeting, Kason told me he'd "be back! Water!" We had just had a drink from the fountain. He thought that would be a good idea!  I was touched by the lesson in relief society to listen to he spirit. After church we had dinner at Natalie's. Kason loved playing with the cousins.  It was a nice rainy Sunday!

New Toy--Birthday & Graduation Parties

Kason is almost 22-months old, and he repeats everything! He says some big words just because he likes to repeat whatever we say. Some of the words he likes to say on his own are stroller, fall down, cookie, car seat, be back, truck, careful, airplane, wee, fun, chicken, scriptures, and music. He has started imitating faces, and will do happy and sad faces when you ask him to. He also started counting this week. He will say two when we say one, then seven after every number until eight and then he will shout ten! He is getting the idea but just likes his favorite numbers! He goes down to bed easily but only if his dad tucks him in. We are trying to transition him from his crib to a bed. He took a nap in his bed this week and woke up and came upstairs without crying for the first time. He is usually pretty fussy when he wakes up from his naps, so this was a big milestone! Kason loves to feed handfuls of hay to the horses. Kolt even caught him feeding his roping dummy steer the other day.

Kolay is 4 1/2 months old! She is getting so much personality. She is quite fascinated with the TV which is new for us as Kason didn't care for it as a baby. She loves her bouncer! Thanks Aunt Natalie for lending it to us! She loves her big brother. She always wants to be around him. She hasn't been sleeping so well lately. She likes to wake up to eat every 4-5 hours or so now. She also prefers to sleep on her belly and side much better than her back now. She is he happiest in the bath tub and loves taking baths with Mom and Kason. She transitioned to a new binky without a second thought. She sucked away the first time which was also different than her brother. She loves to talk, giggle, and squeal which is pretty darn cute and had the sweetest tongue smile!

Monday kolt helped our neighbor with some painting and I worked in the afternoon. Kolt worked with his horse in the afternoon while Kason napped and did some fencing. In the evening, we went out to Paisleys 2nd birthday party. Kolt and I enjoyed playing some volleyball, Kason was fascinated with the balloons, and Kolay say with Grandma Leann Harris for a while. We had cake and ice cream and opened presents. We gave her a Barbie and palomino horse set. She loved it and wanted to ride it! Kason also enjoyed her horses and her new slide. We had a great evening together,  and I even got to hold Hesston again! We also brought home Kolt's sorrel gelding that night, which is named "Red" now.

Tuesday Kolt had early morning institute, then I went visiting teaching, then ran into work to train, and then did more visiting teaching after. Kolt did some more fencing and working with Clyde. Afterwards, Kolt and grandma Lindley went to pick up our new 4-wheeler that Kolt and I and Grandpa and Grandma Lindley bought. Kason loves it! He goes for several rides a day now back through the pasture and knows where his spot is on the seat. It is a nice 4-wheeler and we are excited for the summer with it! In the evening, we watched a neighbor and nursery friend Quentin Pack again. He's a good boy and we played outside lots. Kason loves saying "Quentin" over and over and now thinks all friends are named Quentin. Kolt worked a 7-11 that night.

 
Wednesday and Thursday Kolt helped our neighbor again and I worked in the afternoon. We did piano in the afternoon on Thursday and Kolt had his last senior seminar class. On Thursday evening the kids went to grandmas day and I had volleyball practice. Kolt worked with his horse and then we went to get the kids together. They love spending time at grandma Piquet's house.

Friday morning Kolt shadowed Tyson for his last time and I worked in the afternoon. In the evening, we went to an awards banquet at ISU. We sat at a table with Brother Nix and had a good visit. The food was delicious the Kolay was good. Kason went to play at quentins house which he was excited about. Thanks Mike and Amanda! The program honored the clubs on campus, including 2 that Kolt was a part of.

Saturday morning I took Kolay to a bridal shower for my good friend Jacqueline Lee. She and I were childhood best friends until I moved to Idaho falls. It was a great shower and fun to visit with her. Afterwards, we met Kolt and Kason at the rodeo at rigby. Rope had done bareback earlier. Kolt then helped rope with breakaway roping, saddle bronc, and chute dogging. I sat with the kids in the bleachers and tried to record rope's events. We left before team roping in time so Kason could have a nap. In the evening, we had a celebration with the Piquet family at Sandpiper for Kolt's graduation. The food was delicious and it was great to all be together. Paisley and Kason had fun together, and Kason actually ate a lot of penne noodles! Thanks so much for the great dinner Shane and Angela!

Sunday morning was a great day together as a family. We had a nice block of meetings in the afternoon.
