Another 12 Months of Marriage

Well, Kolt and I decided to keep up the tradition we started last year.  We had a hard time narrowing down our year to 12 things, but these are definitely some of the highlights.  

Here is our 12 Months of Marriage: 2nd Edition! Hope you enjoy! :)

12--Twelve-hour shifts at EIRMC's Behavioral Health Center. Kolt started this job in May and has stayed busy.

11--Eleven hours of fun watching Kason open his presents on Christmas. He was so fun! We all had a great Christmas and were spoiled rotten!

10--Ten great minutes of Skype with Elder Lindley on Christmas & Mother's Day--Well, at least 10 minutes anyways! Kason got to meet Uncle Tyler for the first time!!!

9--Nine "crashes" and "kisses" a day! Kason has been such an active baby, since he was born, so he has several "falls" every day! He makes it tough to keep up, but he gives the best kisses that makes it all worth it!

8--Eight girls on our Freshman Volleyball Team at Bonneville High School--Quickly changed to seven after a few weeks of the season!

7--Seven applications sent in July to Physician Assistant schools across the country!! 

6--Six awesome co-workers at the Post Register! They definitely make going to the office every week fun and exciting. I reached my 2-year mark in December.

5--Five hours of sleep each night---Kason finally started sleeping consistently around his 1st birthday. 

4--Four hours of Susan's Graduation Ceremony! Wahoo! Mom finally finished with her Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting!!

3--Three hours a day of riding horses! Not only did Kolt work with both JJ and Pedro a lot this summer, but Kason loves riding horses and always wants to ride whenever he sees a horse whether in the backyard or out at Grandpa & Grandma Piquet's arena!

2-Two 1st birthday parties for Kason--Who gets 2 birthday parties?? Yup, this boy :) Can't believe he is already one!

1--One special little girl to join our family in a few short months!!!

Kisses for Baby Sister

Kason is almost 15 months old.  He has quite the personality. Any time someone opens the door he runs over to try and follow them outside. Whenever he hears the door close, he will run to the couch, sit on the back, and watch them leave.  He runs over to the window several times a day, including when he hears a dog bark or when a car pulls up.  He loves to look out the window! His new words this week are “Meow” like the kitty which he always does softly and quietly like the cat. He also said “Rope” on Sunday while looking at his My Family book.  He jabbers all the time and is very particular about what he is saying, although most times it is not understandable.  He is also quite particular about the toaster popping or the microwave beeping.  He will run into the kitchen and yell “Mom” while pointing to the microwave or toaster until someone gets it.  It is pretty cute. He is learning how to whisper which will be great during church! He loves all food, and hasn’t consistently turned down any particular food yet.  

Baby girl is doing great. Heartburn has kicked in this week full force, as well as some serious sciatic nerve pain.  I can’t believe in almost 3 months she will be here.  Kason is also starting to understand that mommy has a baby in her belly. Tonight he gave his baby sister 3 kisses! It was so sweet!

Our week was pretty low key.  Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons I work at the Post Register. Kolt has been working mostly Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights which he did this week.  My mom watched Kason during any overlap between our work schedules which is so nice.  Kolt went to the dentist on Wednesday. He has been a great flosser since our last cleaning, so he was happy to hear his gums were doing great, and he didn’t have any cavities.

For volleyball this week, we played Idaho Falls at home on Tuesday.  We won handily in 3 sets.  Thank you to Kolt and Brand for helping keep score. They were great. The girls played great and passed well. On Thursday, we played Hillcrest. We lost in 5 and probably lost close to 25 serves.  It was frustrating, but it’s always good to have things to work on. Grandma Piquet took Kason for Grandma’s Day on Thursday during the game which was great! They had a great time watching Brand’s team play in Shelley and having a bath!

 

On Friday afternoon, Kason and I met Kolt for lunch at the park by his school.  Kason loves playing at the playgrounds; he is all business until he gets to the top of the slide, then he wants us to make sure we’re watching before he goes down. We had a great time at the park!  On Friday evening, we went to the Bonneville vs. Shelley football game.  We only watched for a little bit, but got to see the half time activities. We even saw Jared Hill win a big screen TV! Kason was serious about watching the game for a while, and then played with a cute girl his age that sat by us.  On Saturday, Kolt helped stack hay for his dad, and then we all went shopping in town.  We had a good afternoon together before Kolt went into work. 

On Sunday, I played the organ, and Kolt and I split teaching the Sunday school lesson.  We learned how keeping the commandments helps us become more like Heavenly Father.  The kids did some hands-on activities in the Hymnbook and in the scriptures and got to share with the class what they found.  Kason played in the nursery for few minutes with Kolt.  Kolt said Kason he was having so much fun that he wouldn’t have cared if he would’ve left.  He played basketball with the hoop for most of the time until they started singing time.  Once they shut the curtain, Kason was too worried about the hoop on the other side, so they came back to Sunday school.  In a few short months, he will be so glad to be able to play in nursery finally! In Relief Society, we had a great lesson taught by our bishop.  We learned about bringing up our kids in truth and light. After church, Kolt and I got our temple recommends renewed.  We had dinner with the Lindley’s.  Kason loved playing with his cousins.  In the evening, we went out to Kolt’s parents, and Kason was in heaven again to see Paisley and ride on the 4-wheeler with Rope.

Busy Week--Baby Appointment--Kade's Report

Kason’s updates: He is saying “Grandma” more and more and definitely loves both his grandmas.  He did the sign for “please” this week, but is still working on consistency.  He did the sign for “more” today without any coaxing which was great! At volleyball this week, he would grab a volleyball and hold it up above his head underneath the basketball hoop. It was so darn cute! He is always on-the-go, curious about anything and everything.  He loves to walk through the garden and check on Kate in the pasture.  He really likes going for walks with Grandpa and Grandma Lindley in the evenings.  He understands the words “go” and “outside” and knows that means it’s time to get shoes on, so he can go with them.  His new words this week are “up” and “ruff” (when he hears a dog). He says it in the mornings when it is time to wake up and when he wants to be held. It is amazing how much more he understands just in the last few weeks.  Kason was also featured on EIRMC’s billboard in Idaho Falls this week. It is pretty neat to see my little baby up there, and it is fun to remember how far we have come!

Baby girl is doing great! We had a doctor appointment this week and her heartbeat sounded great. I was nervous about the appointment because Kolt had class, so Kason was with me. Kason did great, other than opening the doors to the back while we were supposed to be waiting in the waiting room.  Once we got in the room, he sat still with me while we listened to the baby’s heartbeat.  Doctor says things are looking great! I am feeling great and can eat most anything except a full glass of milk. However, I have had lots of bowls of peaches and milk, which I couldn’t do when I was pregnant with Kason. I’m definitely counting my blessings!

Our week was full of stacking hay, working night shifts and coaching volleyball.  Kolt spent 4 nights this week stacking hay for his dad and grandpa.  Most days, he went to class in the morning, took a nap in the afternoon with Kason, stacked hay, and then would head off to work as we were going to bed. He handles it pretty well, but it’s been hard without lots of sleep.  This next week should be better! His classes are going well. Fortunately, he has time to study at work, so that helps him stay on top of his classes.

We had a good week of volleyball this week. We played Skyline on Wednesday. Thanks to my parents for watching Kason while we coached.  The girls played great. Things seemed to connect with the new lineup and rotation.  We still have plenty of things to work on, but our serve receive was better than it had been all week, so I was happy with that. I always tell my girls that if we will serve tough, pass well, and talk a lot, we will win every game.  It has been true so far!

On Tuesday, I spent most of the day making a photo book for Kason’s 1^st year. I included all his heights and weights from his doctor appointments, as well as all his firsts and updates from each month.  It was a lot of work, but I’m glad it’s finished!

On Wednesday, I went to the dentist to get my filling replaced.  I was in and out of the building in 32 minutes which was impressive.  The procedure was surprisingly quite painless and very quick.  I was a little disappointed that my fat lip didn’t get its feeling back until 8 hours later which made work at the office a little interesting, but I am feeling great, and I’m glad I got it fixed! 

Thursday afternoon we went to Brand’s football game against Skyline at Ravsten Stadium.  They lost a bummer game 50-12, and Brand got a concussion late in the game.  Kason had a good time sitting with Grandma Piquet for a little bit of Grandma’s Day!

On Friday, Kolt and I were going to go to the temple, but his work called and asked him to pick up a shift Friday night. So instead, Kolt slept while Kason and I went to the Ririe v. South Fremont football game. Ririe was down 27-0 when I left.  We watched Kylee Finn cheer for a little bit too which was fun. Kolt woke up in time to go watch a little bit of the Bonneville Homecoming Football game against Skyline.  We miss watching Tyler play football!

Saturday was a pretty low key day. Kolt slept after his night shift and woke up around 2 for his 3-11 shift.  Kason and I hung out with Grandma and Grandpa Lindley. Kristi and her family stopped by. Kason and Kylen were so cute playing together. Kason gave Kylen a hug that totally knocked Kylen on his back. Kylen never cried, but flipped Kason over and was on top of the hug. Kason immediately cried like he didn’t think it was very fun anymore! It was pretty cute!  In the evening, I went with my parents to the Stake Adult Session of Conference.  Rope was going to come over to babysit, but he had a campout, so we took Kason with us. My mom was so great to watch Kason in the nursery room. They had a great TV set up in the room, so she could watch the entire thing. Kason was ready for bed when we got home! It was a great meeting. I really enjoyed the talks about indexing and the Book of Mormon being our rock.

On Sunday morning, we went to Kolt’s cousin, Kade Beck’s Mission Report.  He did a great job, and Kason had one of his best Sacrament Meeting’s yet.  He was great! Maybe it was because we rotated the diaper bag toys, so they were a little more interesting this time. After the meeting, we had a nice dinner at Allen & Terri’s house.  We had a great time visiting with Grandma & Grandpa Staker.  We just never see them often enough! I’m so grateful Kason has such a great relationship with his great grandparents.  Kason walked around their yard about 100 times, so when we left, he was asleep in his car seat before we pulled off their road.

Kolt's 23rd Birthday--Crafts--Big 'N' Rich Concert--Dentist

Kason is officially 14 months old! He is full of energy, always on-the-go.  He enjoys being outside and usually goes straight out for the horses. He has a cute little run now and has to run everywhere in full speed.  He has lots of falls and accidents, and usually comes running to me with a traumatic cry until he realizes he's okay! He loves food, any food, especially fresh fruits right now.  He has been on a bad sleep routine, since he got a cold. Now that he is feeling better, he is having a hard time not waking up at 2:30 AM every night.  Saturday night, we reminded him that he usually sleeps 'til 6, but not going in to get him when he woke up at 2:30, and it worked! He slept until 6 AM on Sunday morning and 7 AM today. Record sleep-in time! He just got his 12th tooth this week, making all 4 front teeth on the top and bottom and 4 molars.  He is getting to be quite the little talker and can communicate a lot of things! He loves to wave, even at everyone at the grocery store.  He also blows kisses.  He says Mom, Dad, Grandma (am-ma), and all done. He has even said love you, no, and Susan a couple times this week for the first time this week.  He has also said "Shauna" when he is out at Shauna's house. He does sign language for "more" and "all done" as well which helps at meal times! He still loves to kiss at all the horses like his dad does when they go out to see them.

Baby girl is doing great! She is quite active in the morning times, just like Kason was.  Kolt can even feel her now which is fun. She even kicked Kason today when he was snuggling with me.  I am feeling pretty good, other than being exhausted and having a little sciatic nerve pain.  I have been in the nesting stage--I already have her clothes folded in the drawer and dresses hung in the closet. That is pretty impressive for me! I am getting very excited to dress this baby girl!

Monday was Labor Day.  Kolt worked all night and came home at 8 on Monday morning.  We met him at Kolt's parents to pick up Roy, Sisco, and Sugar for a horseback ride with my mom, my dad, Kason, Lin Longhurt, Kolt and me.  We had a great ride. Kason rode with my mom on Kate, since my belly is a little too big to hold Kason in the backpack on the horse.  We went on a little ride up by Heise for the morning.  When we got home, Kolt went to sleep for his Monday night shift.  Kason, my dad, and I went to Fred Meyer to catch any of the sales we had missed.  We spent the rest of the evening finishing the growth charts with my mom. Kason went on a long long walk in the stroller with Grandpa Lindley.  He sure loves that!

Tuesday was month end for me at work.  Kason went out to Shauna and Landon's for the day while Kolt had classes.  They had a great time shopping and playing, and he took a big nap with Landon.   I finished in time for volleyball practice, and Kolt picked up Kason in time to come help.  We had a good practice, working on serve receive and scrimmaging with the J.V. at the end.

Wednesday, Kolt had classes in the morning, and I worked in the afternoon.  We had some software complications, so I barely got checks printed in time for our game against Madison.  The girls were great and had eaten dinner and put up the nets by the time I was there.  All I had to do  to get the gym ready was set up the scoreboard and recruit parents to help officiate.  We have some great freshman parents this year, so it is pretty easy to get help which is so nice.  The girls had a slow start, winning 25-23 in the first game.  In the entire first game, I can't remember a single pass, serve receive or free ball, that was in front of the 10-foot line. They had an even slower second game, losing 11-25.  After a little pep talk and lots better passing, we won the next two games 25-10 and 25-22 or something like that.  Thank goodness we were serving pretty well.  Natalie was awesome to bring her kids to the game and watch Kason. He sure liked cuddling with her and holding her hair!  She was a lifesaver for us! Kolt was good help and would talk to the girls as they came on and off the bench.  After cleaning up the gym, we ran out to Rope's football game at Stinger just as it was ending! As we left the field, Kolt got a call to go into work, so he worked from 8-11 that evening.  

Thursday was Kolt’s 23^rd birthday! We started the morning by opening his presents.  Kolt got a new cinch from my parents.  Kason and I gave him a couple shirts, a pair of bright orange tennis shoes, a shaving kit, and a Duck Dynasty hat.  Kason loved opening his presents with him and could tell it was a party.  After opening presents, Kason and I stayed home while Kolt went to school.  We cleaned a little, took a little nap, and played outside.  We met at volleyball practice at 4.  One of the girls on my team got pulled up to JV, so now we have 7 on our team! It will definitely make practices interesting, but it will be great for the girls to have to step up and fill the gap.  We ended practice a little early due to practice plans being a little dependent on 8 players.  After practice, we went out to Brand’s game for a little bit against Madison.  In the second half, my parents picked us up to go to the Big ‘N’ Rich Concert at the fair for Kolt’s birthday! Thank goodness it was Grandma’s Day; it worked out perfectly! Thanks, Grandma Piquet, for taking Kason, wearing him out, and putting him to bed for us! We got to the fairgrounds in time to have a little fair food for Kolt’s birthday dinner.  We ate Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches and tiger ears.  We were stuffed; the food was great! We were grateful to get tickets from the Post Register for the concert.  My parents’ seats were in the grandstands, and ours were on the track.  We met up with Shauna and Landon and listened to the concert on the track with them! It was a great concert; I recognized a few of the songs, and Kolt knew a lot more of them.  We also liked the opening band, Old Dominion.  We had a good time enjoying a date night! It was a little long for me to stand the whole time, and I got burnt out quick, but I loved the music and entertainment! Kolt loved Cowboy Troy! He was fun to watch! After the concert, it took a few hours until my hearing came back, but it was all worth it! Happy Birthday, Kolt!

On Friday morning, I had a teeth cleaning appointment at the dentist.  I met my mom in the parking lot to take Kason for a little bit until Kolt got home from class.  I always dread going to the dentist, mostly because I know I haven’t brushed or flossed like I should have.  A couple weeks ago I noticed one of my teeth being extra sensitive.  I figured I had a cavity when I went in.  After taking the x-rays and letting the dentist look at my teeth, they noticed that one of my fillings was loose.  I hadn’t even noticed it was loose! I am going in again on Wednesday to replace the filling.  I made sure to double check that it wasn’t a procedure that I should wait until after delivery to do. Unfortunately for me, they said it was harmless, and we could do the procedure while pregnant.  J  I am glad to know what the cause of the sensitivity is, and it will be nice to have it fixed and feeling better! On Friday afternoon, I went into work.  Things were pretty slow and relaxing which was nice. In the evening, Kason and I went with my parents to Nancy Long’s sale of her preschool supplies. Kason got a lot of new toys including a bike, a rocking horse, a shopping cart, a big fire truck, a basketball hoop, and a lot of books. He loves them! Kolt got called in to work the night shift on Friday.

On Saturday morning, we got up and headed to the fair again, this time to work the PR Fair Booth with my mom.  I had told Kolt he should stay home to sleep after working all night, but he didn’t seem to think it was right to miss the last day of the fair.  He and Kason thankfully took a little nap in the car on the way down and for a little bit before they got out and walked around.  My mom and I worked the booth; it was pretty low-key other than going through tons of free popcorn, taking a few complaints, and baking under the canopy. It is a pretty fair trade for some fun days at the fair.  After our shift, my dad met us, and the 5 of us walked around the fair.  We started by getting a little lunch. We all shared curly fries, Teriyaki rice bowl, quesadilla, peach smoothie, chocolate-covered bacon, and a funnel cake.  It is always fun to try new foods at the fair. We had a great time walking around. The animals were the highlight of the day. Kolt left a little early to get back for his evening shift at the BHC.  When we got home, we took a little nap. My mom and I started another project: Popsicle Puzzles.  They were a bit of a challenge, but they look great! I love one-night projects!

We had a great fast and testimony meeting on Sunday.  I played the organ, and Kason was less than great during the meeting. He is right in the middle of a difficult Sacrament Meeting baby stage.  Kolt and I both taught half of the lesson on Sunday. The prompt was “How does obedience affect my ability to learn the gospel?” It was a fun lesson, and we learned about Daniel and his interpreting the King’s dream.  We sure have a great class that tries hard to learn.  Kason fell asleep with Kolt during Priesthood. We had a great Relief Society lesson about eternal marriage, one of my favorite topics. I’m so grateful that my family can be together forever.

On Sunday evening, we celebrated Kolt’s birthday out at his parents’ house.  We had spaghetti for dinner, one of Kolt’s favorites.  We had a German Chocolate cake that was delicious! Shauna and Landon gave him a pair of bucking rolls ­for his saddle. His parents gave him a bosal. He is excited to use them both! After opening presents, his mom also made a Moon Cake, Kolt’s favorite! It was a great birthday! We had a fun evening of visiting and walking in the stroller!
