3-Months Old & 20-Months Old

Where does the time go? I can't believe how fast 2 weeks went by. Here's our updates and highlights:

Kolay turned 3 months old this week! She is a sweet happy girl that has added so much love to our home. She rarely fusses except when she is very hungry or when she gets out of the bath. This girl hates being cold! She can hold her head up and sits in her Bumbo. She is making more coo and gurgle sounds and leaned to blow bubbles last week! She is a mommy's girl already but loves to smile at Daddy. She likes to be held by anyone who will smile at and talk to her. She is still in 0-3 month clothes. I love how much longer she is wearing some of these smaller clothes than her brother. She is in size 1 diapers and growing out of most of her newborn shoes. She puts up with lots of beatings from kason without a fuss. She kicks and kicks all day long; I think she is ready to get moving! She still nurses 3 hours throughout the day and goes about 8 hours at night. She went 10 hours one night this week!

Kason is turned 20-months last week!   He still loves hair!!! He loves to hold my or anyone's hair when he is uncomfortable in a situation, sad, or tired. He loves the 2 Dr. Seuss books we have at our house: Red Fish, Blur Fish and Mr Brown Can Moo. He likes to be read to and then look through the pages and say the key words from each page. Both kids have had some cold symptoms lately but nothing serious. Kason found out that Daddy also responds to the name "Kolt" sometimes from Mom and from his cousins. He loves to say it over and over again trying to get Dad to respond. Kason officially moved up to size 5 diapers. They seem to fit him much better in the waist.  He is learning not to throw things besides sports balls. He is also a great big brother and knows when mommy needs to help Kolay. He will usually just come and lean on my legs when he needs a little love and I'm feeding Kolay. Kason has a huge vocabulary and is saying many many words on his own without hints. Hank you Super WHY! He is growing up so quickly!

Kolt and I are doing much of the same things until we finish the semester. Our lives are full of diapers!! After a sale, we found ourselves with 7 boxes of diapers and 3 boxes of wipes, and yes, we will use them all! Kolt is going to school 3 days a week and shadowing 2 days a week. He is also picking up shifts at the BHC on the weekends or whenever they need him. I am working 3 days a week and staying home with kids on the other days.

On Monday the 2nd I worked all day with Kolay and my mom at the post register for month end. Kason stayed home with Kolt. Kolt surprised me when I got home with doing all the laundry!!!

On Tuesday the 3rd, I finished my last photography class. I took Kolay wih me this week and my parents watched Kason and put him to bed for us. I learned so much from that class. I learned better how to take pictures using natural light and also learned how much time it will take to get really good. I'm having a hard time finding all the time I'd like to practice but I'm grateful for any chance I do have. Thanks Kolt for an awesome Christmas gift!

On Wednesday the 4th kason and I went to the relief society birthday dinner activity with my mom. He didn't care much for the nursery they provided so he spent some time with me eating dinner and I spent some time with him in the nursery room. Kolt stayed home with Kolay to study for a test.

On Thursday Kolt finished his 8-week abnormal psychology course with a final test. He got an A in the class! He has been going to that class 3 mornings a week. Now that it is over his schedule is much more open for working and shadowing. We are excited for that! Thursday afternoon I taught Evan his piano lesson. In the evening, I went to volleyball practice with the 12 and under team. The girls are learning lots! Kason and Kolay stayed with Kolt. Kason wasn't feeling so great so he stayed home from grandmas day.

On Friday Kolt shadowed 6 hours to make up for missing Monday. It was a long day! When he got home, we decided we really wanted to go to the temple and thought Friday would be our last chance. We were so grateful that Grandma Piquet was willing to take the kids last minute for us. Kolay took a bottle well again and Kason played and played. I was really nervous to leave Kolay again because I wasn't sure she'd take a bottle again and I know she and kason can be a handful. It is always amazing to me how when you enter the temple my worries go away. Although I still thought about them, I was filled with peace that they would be fine. We had a great session that was completely full. I love attending the temple. I always get the feeling to go more often when I am there. Thank you grandma piquet for taking good care of them while we went!

On Saturday we got up early to go see a couple half draft horses in soda springs. Kason was excited to see the horses and Kolay slept the whole trip. The half brother half drafts were pretty rough but had supposedly both been ridden before. Kolt decided to buy one. The owner seemed pretty anxious to sell the horses so Kolt made an offer on the other on the way home. The owner accepted the offer initially but later called this week saying he had found a different buyer if we were okay with that and we said yes. We went straight to the green belt on our way home to meet Natalie and her kids, Kristi's kids and grandpa Lindley. Natalie had pizza lunch and drinks ready for us in the park! She was so great to invite us! Then we took a walk all the way around the green belt!! I almost didn't make it-it seemed so far! The kids loved it. Some took naps (like Kolay) and others (like Kason) stayed awake the whole time, soaking it up! It was great to visit with Natalie and try to keep up with grandpa! Kolt went home early to sleep so he could work the night shift he picked up. Although there were 12 patients and only 1 tech, he was grateful to have a somewhat slow night enough to get some homework done.

Sunday we went to our block of meetings. Kolt and I enjoyed Sunday school together. I played the piano in relief society so Kolay went to priesthood. Kason had a great time in nursery! He stayed all by himself this weeke without being too needy from grandma. He was even unusually quiet during sacrament meeting. We were feeling pretty good about the day until we got home. Kason went to play with his bucket of toys and within 10 minutes started yelling "puke!!" as he was walking to the bathroom and throwing up. We had a fun time cleaning that up. We had a good dinner with the Lindleys. The kids all jumped on the tramp and then played outside with Kolt and Brady for a long time!

The highlight of this Monday was dinner from Jamee Jolley in our Ward. I had bought a dinner from her at a ward service auction this summer. It was delicious!! Thanks so much for making our day!! Monday night I went to Volleyball in Rexburg and Kolt kept both kids. Kolay made it just over 3 hours successfully! Wahoo!! After I got home, Kolt took an online test and scored a 48/50! Good job!

Tuesday Kolt spent the day studying at school. He voted early in the morning and I voted in the afternoon. Kason and I went on a walk to the precinct. Kolay stayed home with grandma. As we walked in, Cryshelle Scott walked out and offered to take kason to the park while I voted! It was perfect! Thanks for much! Kason played and played and of course went down the slide on the belly head first every time. We also went visiting teaching on Tuesday.

Wednesday morning Kolt and I took the kids grocery shopping. It was a long day! We used a coupon for lunch at Papa Kelsey's before I went into work. It was a big day printing checks. Things weren't going very quickly so Kolt came to get Kolay a few hours before I was coming home so I could work quickly. Kolt once again surprised me with laundry done and homemade spaghetti for dinner all out and ready for me. Have I mentioned that I love this man? I love you Kolt!!

Thursday I had piano lessons and volleyball in the evening. Kason went to grandmas day. He was excited to see brand and rope at the door! He sprinted to the stairs when the doorbell rang! Kolt took Kolay out during volleyball for roping and I met up with them a little later. It was a great night!

Friday was a rough day for me! I had been throwing up all night Thursday night and completely lost my voice that morning. It had been scratchy for a few days already. Kolt was up most of Thursday night with 3 whiny babies! Kolt went shadowing in the morning but was sent home to take care of his sick wife. Thank you Tyson! Grandpa Lindley offered to take Kason to Utah with Natalie and Brooke to pick up great grandma Lindley. That was a lifesaver! I spent the day in bed and Kolt had Kolay. He was great to just bring her to me when she was hungry or sleeping. We  met kason on the highway to go to rexburg. We went to see Shauna and Landon's new home in Salem first. They showed us all the progress so far and plans for the next few months of building It is beautiful and we are so happy for them! Kason ran and ran like he spent the day in a car. He crawled under he fence at the border of their property. Yes, he was ready to go and go!! Afterwards, we went to Grandpa Dalling's Retirement Party at the high school in sugar city. We hit the end of the party but enjoyed visiting with all the family that came and community members that I grew up with. I am sure grateful for the good example set by my grandpa Dalling.  Friday night Lacey and Lindsey stayed the night with us.

Lacey Lindsey Kolay and I left at 6:50 in the morning for volleyball at snake river junior high. It was early for all of us! We had a good tournament! He girls were learning to move to the ball but still need work on passing in their mid lines and not reaching to the side. The serving got better all day! As soon as our last game was finished, I hurried to the temple for Saydie and Charlie's temple sealing. Kason spent the morning in rexburg with Kolt roping at the arena. We all met at the temple with Shauna and Landon. They picked up kason and Kolay and took them home while we attended the sealing. Thank you so much for watching them! The sealing was very sweet. After the sealing, we picked up the kids and went to a luncheon at Kevin and Ashley's home. It was delicious! We are so happy for Kevin and Ashley to finally get these 2 sealed to their family. After the luncheon, we came home to have naps. Kason and Kolt went town to get swimming suits. Kolt face timed with me so I could pick out just which ones I wanted for all of us, then we drove up to green canyon to swim with Shauna, Landon and Paisley. The kids had a blast! Kason and paisley loved playing with the balls we brought. Kason likes jumping in until he jumped when I wasn't looking  and we hit heads. Then he slowly crawled in backwards instead of jumping. Oops! Kolay loves her first time swimming! She kicked and kicked until she fell asleep. She didn't even mind the constant splashing in the face. She was totally content! Thanks Landon for idea and incite to go swimming!  On our way home we picked up some chicken nuggets for kason. Shauna and Landon told us that he ate lots of the for lunch which is a big deal if he eats lots of anything! We decided he'd better have some quick dinner in case he fell asleep on the way home. Yup! He downed them! Yay! A new lunch idea!

Today we attended our Ward meetings. Kolt got sustained D the 1st counselor in a new Sunday school presidency. Grandma Lindley wasn't feeling well so Kolt had both kids while I played he organ. Kolt had quite a scare during sacrament meeting. I went to go feed Kolay and almost didn't make it back for the rest hymn. From what I hear, I came running in just about as Kolt was going to go up to play the organ! Next time I'll try not to cut it so close! I decided to come home with Kolay after sacrament meeting to sleep. Kasons nursery leader brought kason, fast asleep, to Kolt about 5 minutes after he dropped him off. He stayed asleep all through the block, all the at home and in bed until 5:30. It's been a good restful Sunday!

18 Teeth--Photography Classes-District BB--Regional Conference

Kason is almost 20 months old. His new words this week are puke (when he pukes a little), I okay (when I ask him if he's okay), broken (referring I a few toys he has broken), and Zerby Derby (a TV show on Sprout). He had a few words I can't quite understand but they are all close variations of the word he is trying to say. It's just a mystery sometimes to what he is saying. I realized this week that he now has #18 teeth; I totally missed his first 2-year old molar that is all the way in. #18 is still about half way through. Kason was helpful this week in helping me get a can for the storage room. A bunch of boxes were stacked in front of the cans so I explained to Kason what I needed and he walked Across the boxes and got me the can I needed. This week I was also trying to take a picture of Kolay and Kason ran up and told Kolay to "cheese". He is pretty fun. He loves to be outside; cold weather doesn't faze him.

Kolay is now 11-weeks old. She is a great self-soother and will usually kick and kick then fall asleep, then walk up and fall asleep again all without a fuss. She is getting much more interactive. She loves to smile and anyone who will talk to her, including her big brother. She is getting quite verbal back. Her mouth is always moving and she can now get out some sounds back. She is a great eater and is really consistent. She is back to sleeping great at night which is great! She loves to scratch her face so she wears mittens most all the time.

Monday was a pretty routine day, Kolt's classes in the morning and my work in the afternoon. In the evening, I went up to Rexburg to fill in for the volleyball team again. Kolt and the kids came with me and we drove Natalie as well.

Tuesday Kolt was at class all day. While I was home with the kids, I had a visit from my visiting teachers. Kason and I made great grandma Lindley’s Special K cereal treat for them. We have been making lots of that treat lately! In the evening, Kolt has his class and I started my first of 2 photography classes at Perfect Light Photography. My parents watched the kids at home. Kolay got hungry a little early so they fed her first bottle! She did great although they said she missed me, but it was good to know she would take one. Kason played and played and was very ready to go in his bed at bedtime. The class was great! I learned so much and now I need to practice. The teacher encouraged us to take at least 20 pictures a day and to not be afraid to delete. I learned a lot about the exposure triangle this week and it has helped my pictures a lot already. I can't wait to keep practicing!

Wednesday evening my mom had her first district basketball game. It was a good game; Kason played with Brooke and Nathan. They won that game to go onto the championship Thursday.

On Thursday I made my cousin Erica Green's recipe for Chicken enchiladas from our family cookbook.   They were delicious! Thanks Erica! Thursday evening we went to the championship. I had my volleyball practice first and Kolt met me at the gym with the kids to go over to eagle rock. It was an intense game but they did beat Sandcreek. Kolay was great during the loud game. Kason played with cousins.

Friday kason had grandmas day. He played outside and had a nap. He enjoyed playing with paisley and having snacks. Kolt and I did a little shopping after I got home from work and then went out to visit at grandma and grandpa piquet's.

Saturday morning Kolt took kason yo state wrestling at ISU. Kolay stayed home with me. We finished cleaning up the storage room and spent some time together. It's always nice to have a quiet day! In the afternoon, Kolt went to rope out at his parents arena. In the evening, we stayed at home and enjoyed a visit from cousins Kylen and Kamrie and their parents. Kason loves visitors.

Sunday morning we had regional conference. My dad went early to save seats and Kolt and Kolay went a little early to fill them. Kason and I got here at about exactly 10 am. Kason was really pretty good although he still doesn't understand whispering. He played with Nay- Nay and Brooke and fell asleep at about 11:15. Kolay slept all through the meeting. I enjoyed the talk from Sister Marriott and her message about understanding others. We also got a kick out of Elder Perrys humor at the beginning of his talk. After church we had dinner with the Lindleys and played outside for a long time! It was even warm enough to bring out some bikes and scooters. Kason stayed outside as long as he could.

More Teeth & Rolling Over

Kolay turned 10-weeks old on Saturday! She is growing up so much and starting to get a personality. She is a pretty diligent roller from belly to back. She will work and work til she gets turned over during her tummy time. She can hold her head up by herself for a little while. She is starting to coo and gurgle back and forth with you. She is such a low maintenance girl and is so fun to be around. She is great to take with me anywhere. She started a good little cough and is at the end of it thank goodness. We have been diffusing Breathe right by her bed all through the night which has helped tons. She was struggling to sleep at nights earlier in the week but slept 8 hours again last night! Yay!

Kason started repeating parts of the alphabet with us. He talks most all of the day. It is hard to take him to sacrament meeting and teach him that he needs to whisper. He prefers more of an outside voice everywhere he goes! He also has found the fun in repeating the same word over and over.  He got his 17th tooth on Friday night, his first 2-year old molar. It definitely explains his sudden lack of patience and increased demanding attitude. I forgot to mention that last Sunday Kolt taught Kason that cooked carrots were candy. Kason has really bought into that and as of last night still gobbles his "candy" with both hands when we offer it. We're going to keep that one going as long as we can! He is pretty good about trying new foods and forgetting about he sweets when they are out of sight.

Monday was a pretty normal day with morning classes and afternoon work for me. The evening was crazy--I filled in for a volleyball team in rexburg and then hurried back to play for another team at the Apple.  So thankful for people who help me with Kolay at both places. It is just too long to leave her home between feedings. This girl is already getting her feel of life in the gym!

Tuesday Kolt was at school from 8 am to 10 pm. Kolt had a test in his second class. He got an 87% which he was disappointed with; however it was quite high for the class. He started the day with institute, abnormal psychology, and then studied all afternoon until His organic evolution course in the evening. Tuesdays make for long days at home! We FaceTime a lot during breaks.

Wednesday Kolt had morning classes and I worked in the afternoon with Kolay. Kason, Kolay, and I went to district wrestling to watch Kolt's cousin Shelly's son wrestle. Kason was so intrigued with the mats! He thought we were going to watch brand play basketball and kept saying "Brand" over and over. Thank goodness we ran into him during lunch! Jared lost the match we watched but went on to place quite high, just barely missing qualifying for state. Kolt was able to get out of class in time to watch as well. He and kason went back to the championships later in the evening with brand and grandpa Lindley. I had volleyball practice with my 12 year old team. It was a good practice. The girls are learning to serve over the net from farther back and getting more rallies. I think we are about ready to learn how to hit! After volleyball, we dropped Kolt off at his church ball game. He enjoys playing basketball every week he can make it, although he keeps feeling like his body is getting older and more achy. He got a good workout last night because after his game, he ran home from the church too!

Thursday Kolt was at the school all day studying and preparing for a presentation in his senior seminar. The kids and I stayed home all day; I taught Evan his piano lesson in the afternoon. Kason loves to try to play with us. He thinks Evan is pretty cool when he plays. Kason had also been enjoying being with Kolt when he plays the piano and sings the hymns. I really love having music in our home. Kolt has even motivated me to play a little more in the week. Kason went to grandmas day with Grandma Piquet in the evening. He went to a relief society activity with her. I enjoyed taking a bath with Kolay and making homemade teriyaki chicken and rice bowls for dinner.

Friday was a busy day! Kolt shadowed in the morning and I took Kolay to her photo shoot for the cover of the Baby Parade 2014 at the post register. My mom was Ardmore to watch kason on the business office while I took Kolay downstairs with the 5 other kids. The theme was a cake smash and Kolay didn't do much smashing but there were plenty of kids to smash them. Hopefully the pictures turned out as I spent most of the time under a blanket laying behind a bench to hold on to her and not be seen! After the pictures, we hurried and met Kolt to go to a funeral of a neighbor who was in one of Kolt's classes a couple semesters ago and used to be in our ward. It was a nice funeral with a neat tribute to Jonathon Horton. Kolt stayed with the kids in the nursery and listened to the funeral while I played the organ and I went to the nursery to feed Kolay in between songs. After that, I went to work with Kolay and Kolt stayed home with Kason.  In the evening we went on a date night at ISU's Idaho Falls campus. They provided dinner and showed Mockingjay. We left Kason at home with grandma and grandpa and took Kolay with us. We were glad to meet Natalie and Brady there! It was a fun night!

On Saturday Kolt got up early to go rope at the Rexburg Arena for a few hours. He had a good time and felt like he did alright. He was thankful to be able to have a horse to share because he doesn't have one right now. After roping, Kolt came home to sleep because he picked up a last minute on-call night shift. He had planned to do a little homework if he got called in, but unfortunately he got called in and had quite a bit to do. He did make some progress on his homework in the night. I felt like I was up as much as Kolt was that night. It felt like Kason and Kolay took turns being awake so I got next to no sleep. Kolt usually takes kason at nights so we can both sleep. Dad was definitely missed at our house!

On Sunday, we went to our 1 o'clock block of church. I played the organ. Kason didn't do so well during sacrament meeting. He had a good morning nap but was just full of energy in the meeting. He seems to think that if mom and dad are whispering, he has to make up for the noise by shouting back. He also found that it was pretty fun to shout "Amen" 5 times after prayers. This week I went to nursery with him. They have quite a few young kids in nursery that fuss quite a bit and Kason seems to think that he needs to have his grandma the whole time. Kason did pretty good although he doesn't care to clean up toys and sit for a lesson just yet!
