St. Patrick's Day--New Horses--Jazz Game--Utah Trip

Wow! Another 2 weeks have flown by! Here are the highlights:

Kason is almost 21 months old. He continues to explode with his language. He even uses many words of his own now with us prompting him. He can ask for many different snacks and a "dink" (drink). He loves to throw everything and prefaces it with "tatch" (catch). He is really good at the last consonant of words and not so great at the first consonant. Kason is even learning little Spanish thanks to his Daddy. He knows that “Salta” means jump and he says “Hola” when prompted for hello. He calls Kolay's diapers "Elmo!" Because Elmo is on the front of hers. His favorite shows this week are Caillou, Frozen, and Super Why, of course. His favorite foods of the week ate "ogurt" (yogurt), "noodles" (pasta) and "chicken" (chicken nuggets). He had a great bedtime routine going. We get on our "jammies", read scriptures in the bed in his room, sing songs (usually "popcorn" and "bubble"), say prayer, turn on his "music", hug and "tickle" his teddy bear, hold his sippy of water, and lay down with his blanket. And every night he asks for "pancakes" or "toast" (French toast) in the morning. It's pretty cute! Lately he has started yelling either "mom" or "dad" after about 5 minutes and he usually just needs a little reassurance and he'll lay back down. He always wants to be outside, either with the horses, riding his bike, jumping on the tramp, playing on the swingset or throwing a ball. He's all boy!

Kolay is the officially the happiest baby I've ever seen! She is almost always content except for every 3 hours when she politely reminds me with little fusses. We were excited to see her on the cover of the Post Register’s Born in 2014 edition today! She was part of a birthday party theme as well as entered in the baby entries in the paper. Proud Mom moment! She is starting to like being involved in things and interacting. She like laying under the play mat, and so does Kason! She is losing most all of her hair except a nice patch in the back. She is weighed 12 pounds 13 ounces and measured 22 1/2 inches long on the 18th for her 3 month appointment. She has started to spit up more usually when I have too much dairy. She still sleeps most nights about 8 hours although she has had a few 5 hour nights which is nothing to complain about. She is starting to talk more and even had a little giggle the other day at her mommy. She is a sweet girl!

Kolt and I have been doing most of the same old. I'm working afternoons at the Post Register and Kolt is in class and working a few 7-11 pm shifts at the BHC. It works out great so one of us is always home. Kolt got 2 horses in the past 2 weeks. He got a cute little sorrel mare that he has named Bonnie and a bay half draft gelding named Clyde. We got the mare last Monday and the half draft last Saturday. He is really excited to work with both this summer. He is already busy away with both of them and kason loves to be with him.

Last Tuesday was St. Patrick's day. I kinda outdid myself with a bunch of activities for the day. We took St. Patrick's day pictures of the kids in their green, had green pancakes, made a rainbow fruit platter, made green treats and handouts for visiting teaching sisters, and finished the day swimming in the hot tub with Nathan and going to get a orange Leaf frozen yogurt. It was a great day! Kolt played a little football at the park with my friends in the evening as his class was cancelled. It was a fun holiday! Thank you Pinterest for the many fun ideas.

On Wednesday the 18th we got to visit Kasons newest cousin Hesston Shane Harris. He was born a few weeks early so he is spending some time in the nicu getting stronger. Kolt and kason picked up Paisley to play and then we went to the hospital to let paisley see her mommy and visit Hesston in the nicu. We are so excited that he is finally here and can't wait to have kason and Kolay meet their new cousin!

Last Thursday evening I had volleyball practice getting ready for our second tournament. We practiced a lot with the 14s. After practice I went out to meet Kolt and the kids at grandpa and grandma piquet's house roping. Kolt loves being outside!

Friday kason went to play with paisley in the afternoon while Kolt went to help Landon on their house. Kolay and I went to work to do checks.

Saturday morning we all got up early to go pick up Clyde from soda springs. Of course, the kids sleep in on the day we have to leave at 7 when they usually are up before then! We drove straight there and the kids slept almost all the way there and back. We dropped off the horse quickly and went to volleyball in sugar. We are sure grateful for our neighbors for letting us set up the round pen in their paddock!! Thanks so much! The volleyball was good--the girls are learning that a 3 hit play get more reward than winning a set. They got one 3 hit play to get ice cream at this weeks practice.

Sunday was busy! I subbed in the CTR 4 class which was a handful! I'm so grateful for sister king for teaching the lesson. I had the easy job! Kolt subbed in the library with Kolay and thought it was a pretty cool job. Kason had a "hair-pulling" incident at nursery and spent the last hour with grandpa. It wasn't our best nursery day! After church, we went out to grandpa and grandma piquet's to watch the roping and enjoy the warm weather! It was a nice evening with family! Kason loves riding the 4-wheeler!

Monday was the start of Kolt's spring break! I spent the day finishing a photo book of Kolay's birth. It is quite the ordeal with so many pictures although I am glad I am getting better at photography. The book turned out great! While Kolay and I were at work, Kolt and kason built some shelves in the bottom of our closet. It looks so good! Thanks sweetheart! He also picked up a new swingset for grandma Lindleys house which kason loves.

On Tuesday, we left for Utah with rope, brand, and grandpa and grandma Lindley. We drove 2 cars to fit everyone. We met at Pocatello for lunch and then drove to cousin Brady's tennis match. He lost in a close 3-set match. Kason loves playing on the tall swingset and throwing the football with the boys. After tennis, we went to see Blue and Cooper at the stables! The boys had a blast riding and we all ended up taking a turn. They looked great and were fun to ride. Kolay even got to sit on blue with rope for her first little ride ever! We had a great evening. After riding, we ate dinner at Corey and Janis' home in Orem and visited with Brady and Devin before Janis took us out to stay at the beautiful Hobble Creek home. We are so thankful for Janis and her hospitality. We always have a great time visiting them.

On Wednesday morning, we had pancakes and eggs. The boys played more basketball and Kason played on the swingset by the creek. We went on a big bike ride while Janis watched Kason and Kolay. It was a tough ride for us out of shape people! Janis made us sandwiches for lunch and then we did a little shopping in Orem. We went to watch Kelsi run the mile run at her track meet. She ran great! It was fun to visit with my cousin Robyn and meet her new little Kennidee who is just one month older than Kolay. After her race, Kolt and I and the kids went to visit a family from Kolt's mission the Villaneuva's. It was so nice to visit with them and feel of their love. I even caught a few words in Spanish! Sister Villaneuva fed us while we were there as well! It was so good! We always life visiting the Villanueva's! After our visit, we met my parents and rope and brand and Kristi and her family in salt lake at the Jazz game. We got a free bag at the entrance and a free pizza with our tickets! We were up really high but we were both amazed at how closely kason watched the game. He watched for a basket and would clap and yell "yay!" Kolay even made it on the big screen with daddy and rope and brand! It was fun to watch a game and visit with old friends Devin King and Shelby Rudd, who were also at the game. We drove home that night and fought to stay awake!

We have had several projects over Thursday Friday and Saturday. Kolt built a shelf in our bathroom for extra storage, worked on fence, worked with his horses, and cleaned the tack shed. It has been some productive days! Saturday we treated ourselves to the movie to watch insurgent with my mom and Kolay. Kason stayed home with grandpa Lindley. We really enjoyed the movie and then got Orange Leaf afterwards. We have been trying to use some gift cards that expire March 31st. Kolt worked Saturday evening for 4 hours, and I watched the General Women’s Broadcast with the kids. 

Today was a beautiful Sunday day! Kason didn't feel so well during sacrament meeting, so we stayed for Kolt to substitute in a Sunday school class and then went home. My poor little Camry did not drive home well so we drove straight to the mechanic and walked home. Thankfully it is in Iona and we had a stroller in the car. We are not so confident in the future of my little Camry since it had 243,000 miles. We are anxious to hear the verdict this next week. We had a nice dinner with the Lindley family and then Kolt picked up a 4-hour shift tonight for a one to one. We are so grateful for good family and feel like life is flying by!

3-Months Old & 20-Months Old

Where does the time go? I can't believe how fast 2 weeks went by. Here's our updates and highlights:

Kolay turned 3 months old this week! She is a sweet happy girl that has added so much love to our home. She rarely fusses except when she is very hungry or when she gets out of the bath. This girl hates being cold! She can hold her head up and sits in her Bumbo. She is making more coo and gurgle sounds and leaned to blow bubbles last week! She is a mommy's girl already but loves to smile at Daddy. She likes to be held by anyone who will smile at and talk to her. She is still in 0-3 month clothes. I love how much longer she is wearing some of these smaller clothes than her brother. She is in size 1 diapers and growing out of most of her newborn shoes. She puts up with lots of beatings from kason without a fuss. She kicks and kicks all day long; I think she is ready to get moving! She still nurses 3 hours throughout the day and goes about 8 hours at night. She went 10 hours one night this week!

Kason is turned 20-months last week!   He still loves hair!!! He loves to hold my or anyone's hair when he is uncomfortable in a situation, sad, or tired. He loves the 2 Dr. Seuss books we have at our house: Red Fish, Blur Fish and Mr Brown Can Moo. He likes to be read to and then look through the pages and say the key words from each page. Both kids have had some cold symptoms lately but nothing serious. Kason found out that Daddy also responds to the name "Kolt" sometimes from Mom and from his cousins. He loves to say it over and over again trying to get Dad to respond. Kason officially moved up to size 5 diapers. They seem to fit him much better in the waist.  He is learning not to throw things besides sports balls. He is also a great big brother and knows when mommy needs to help Kolay. He will usually just come and lean on my legs when he needs a little love and I'm feeding Kolay. Kason has a huge vocabulary and is saying many many words on his own without hints. Hank you Super WHY! He is growing up so quickly!

Kolt and I are doing much of the same things until we finish the semester. Our lives are full of diapers!! After a sale, we found ourselves with 7 boxes of diapers and 3 boxes of wipes, and yes, we will use them all! Kolt is going to school 3 days a week and shadowing 2 days a week. He is also picking up shifts at the BHC on the weekends or whenever they need him. I am working 3 days a week and staying home with kids on the other days.

On Monday the 2nd I worked all day with Kolay and my mom at the post register for month end. Kason stayed home with Kolt. Kolt surprised me when I got home with doing all the laundry!!!

On Tuesday the 3rd, I finished my last photography class. I took Kolay wih me this week and my parents watched Kason and put him to bed for us. I learned so much from that class. I learned better how to take pictures using natural light and also learned how much time it will take to get really good. I'm having a hard time finding all the time I'd like to practice but I'm grateful for any chance I do have. Thanks Kolt for an awesome Christmas gift!

On Wednesday the 4th kason and I went to the relief society birthday dinner activity with my mom. He didn't care much for the nursery they provided so he spent some time with me eating dinner and I spent some time with him in the nursery room. Kolt stayed home with Kolay to study for a test.

On Thursday Kolt finished his 8-week abnormal psychology course with a final test. He got an A in the class! He has been going to that class 3 mornings a week. Now that it is over his schedule is much more open for working and shadowing. We are excited for that! Thursday afternoon I taught Evan his piano lesson. In the evening, I went to volleyball practice with the 12 and under team. The girls are learning lots! Kason and Kolay stayed with Kolt. Kason wasn't feeling so great so he stayed home from grandmas day.

On Friday Kolt shadowed 6 hours to make up for missing Monday. It was a long day! When he got home, we decided we really wanted to go to the temple and thought Friday would be our last chance. We were so grateful that Grandma Piquet was willing to take the kids last minute for us. Kolay took a bottle well again and Kason played and played. I was really nervous to leave Kolay again because I wasn't sure she'd take a bottle again and I know she and kason can be a handful. It is always amazing to me how when you enter the temple my worries go away. Although I still thought about them, I was filled with peace that they would be fine. We had a great session that was completely full. I love attending the temple. I always get the feeling to go more often when I am there. Thank you grandma piquet for taking good care of them while we went!

On Saturday we got up early to go see a couple half draft horses in soda springs. Kason was excited to see the horses and Kolay slept the whole trip. The half brother half drafts were pretty rough but had supposedly both been ridden before. Kolt decided to buy one. The owner seemed pretty anxious to sell the horses so Kolt made an offer on the other on the way home. The owner accepted the offer initially but later called this week saying he had found a different buyer if we were okay with that and we said yes. We went straight to the green belt on our way home to meet Natalie and her kids, Kristi's kids and grandpa Lindley. Natalie had pizza lunch and drinks ready for us in the park! She was so great to invite us! Then we took a walk all the way around the green belt!! I almost didn't make it-it seemed so far! The kids loved it. Some took naps (like Kolay) and others (like Kason) stayed awake the whole time, soaking it up! It was great to visit with Natalie and try to keep up with grandpa! Kolt went home early to sleep so he could work the night shift he picked up. Although there were 12 patients and only 1 tech, he was grateful to have a somewhat slow night enough to get some homework done.

Sunday we went to our block of meetings. Kolt and I enjoyed Sunday school together. I played the piano in relief society so Kolay went to priesthood. Kason had a great time in nursery! He stayed all by himself this weeke without being too needy from grandma. He was even unusually quiet during sacrament meeting. We were feeling pretty good about the day until we got home. Kason went to play with his bucket of toys and within 10 minutes started yelling "puke!!" as he was walking to the bathroom and throwing up. We had a fun time cleaning that up. We had a good dinner with the Lindleys. The kids all jumped on the tramp and then played outside with Kolt and Brady for a long time!

The highlight of this Monday was dinner from Jamee Jolley in our Ward. I had bought a dinner from her at a ward service auction this summer. It was delicious!! Thanks so much for making our day!! Monday night I went to Volleyball in Rexburg and Kolt kept both kids. Kolay made it just over 3 hours successfully! Wahoo!! After I got home, Kolt took an online test and scored a 48/50! Good job!

Tuesday Kolt spent the day studying at school. He voted early in the morning and I voted in the afternoon. Kason and I went on a walk to the precinct. Kolay stayed home with grandma. As we walked in, Cryshelle Scott walked out and offered to take kason to the park while I voted! It was perfect! Thanks for much! Kason played and played and of course went down the slide on the belly head first every time. We also went visiting teaching on Tuesday.

Wednesday morning Kolt and I took the kids grocery shopping. It was a long day! We used a coupon for lunch at Papa Kelsey's before I went into work. It was a big day printing checks. Things weren't going very quickly so Kolt came to get Kolay a few hours before I was coming home so I could work quickly. Kolt once again surprised me with laundry done and homemade spaghetti for dinner all out and ready for me. Have I mentioned that I love this man? I love you Kolt!!

Thursday I had piano lessons and volleyball in the evening. Kason went to grandmas day. He was excited to see brand and rope at the door! He sprinted to the stairs when the doorbell rang! Kolt took Kolay out during volleyball for roping and I met up with them a little later. It was a great night!

Friday was a rough day for me! I had been throwing up all night Thursday night and completely lost my voice that morning. It had been scratchy for a few days already. Kolt was up most of Thursday night with 3 whiny babies! Kolt went shadowing in the morning but was sent home to take care of his sick wife. Thank you Tyson! Grandpa Lindley offered to take Kason to Utah with Natalie and Brooke to pick up great grandma Lindley. That was a lifesaver! I spent the day in bed and Kolt had Kolay. He was great to just bring her to me when she was hungry or sleeping. We  met kason on the highway to go to rexburg. We went to see Shauna and Landon's new home in Salem first. They showed us all the progress so far and plans for the next few months of building It is beautiful and we are so happy for them! Kason ran and ran like he spent the day in a car. He crawled under he fence at the border of their property. Yes, he was ready to go and go!! Afterwards, we went to Grandpa Dalling's Retirement Party at the high school in sugar city. We hit the end of the party but enjoyed visiting with all the family that came and community members that I grew up with. I am sure grateful for the good example set by my grandpa Dalling.  Friday night Lacey and Lindsey stayed the night with us.

Lacey Lindsey Kolay and I left at 6:50 in the morning for volleyball at snake river junior high. It was early for all of us! We had a good tournament! He girls were learning to move to the ball but still need work on passing in their mid lines and not reaching to the side. The serving got better all day! As soon as our last game was finished, I hurried to the temple for Saydie and Charlie's temple sealing. Kason spent the morning in rexburg with Kolt roping at the arena. We all met at the temple with Shauna and Landon. They picked up kason and Kolay and took them home while we attended the sealing. Thank you so much for watching them! The sealing was very sweet. After the sealing, we picked up the kids and went to a luncheon at Kevin and Ashley's home. It was delicious! We are so happy for Kevin and Ashley to finally get these 2 sealed to their family. After the luncheon, we came home to have naps. Kason and Kolt went town to get swimming suits. Kolt face timed with me so I could pick out just which ones I wanted for all of us, then we drove up to green canyon to swim with Shauna, Landon and Paisley. The kids had a blast! Kason and paisley loved playing with the balls we brought. Kason likes jumping in until he jumped when I wasn't looking  and we hit heads. Then he slowly crawled in backwards instead of jumping. Oops! Kolay loves her first time swimming! She kicked and kicked until she fell asleep. She didn't even mind the constant splashing in the face. She was totally content! Thanks Landon for idea and incite to go swimming!  On our way home we picked up some chicken nuggets for kason. Shauna and Landon told us that he ate lots of the for lunch which is a big deal if he eats lots of anything! We decided he'd better have some quick dinner in case he fell asleep on the way home. Yup! He downed them! Yay! A new lunch idea!

Today we attended our Ward meetings. Kolt got sustained D the 1st counselor in a new Sunday school presidency. Grandma Lindley wasn't feeling well so Kolt had both kids while I played he organ. Kolt had quite a scare during sacrament meeting. I went to go feed Kolay and almost didn't make it back for the rest hymn. From what I hear, I came running in just about as Kolt was going to go up to play the organ! Next time I'll try not to cut it so close! I decided to come home with Kolay after sacrament meeting to sleep. Kasons nursery leader brought kason, fast asleep, to Kolt about 5 minutes after he dropped him off. He stayed asleep all through the block, all the at home and in bed until 5:30. It's been a good restful Sunday!
